NESSA Weekly Update - Scores

The 2019 NESSA Team Racing Standings page is posted.  It can be found on the NESSA Website under RANKINGS.

There you will find four important links.
1) Directions on who/how to post your scores.  Some important considerations:
  • If your school has registered to be considered for the NESSA Teams (President's and Terk), then reporting scores is a must.
  • If your school has registered for the O'Day or the Herrershoff, submitting scores helps verify that you have met the 2-meet/regatta rules for eligibility to compete.
  • If however, you just want to report your scores, you are welcome to do that too.

4) And eventually Team Racing Rankings Sheet.  This document will not be posted for a few weeks.

More to follow, I am sure.  Finally, registration for all three NESSA Championships (O'Day, Herreshoff, and Teams) closes on Monday April 1, 2019 at 2359 hours.  Here are the links to each site so you can check your status.  If you need to pay regatta fees, here is the NESSA PayPal Link.

NESSA 2019 Spring Season weekly update

This week's update.

1) Safety: As many programs are starting this week, here are some more things to consider.
A.  ISSA publishes a comprehensive  Safety Practice. A basis guide on their website.  Every parent and coach should read this before starting their season.

2) NESSA Tickets to NIT (Cleveland): As stated in the NESSA Teams NOR (President's and Terk Trophies), schools wishing to represent NESSA at the Baker or the NIT will be required to pay a ticket deposit of $500 (NOR 3.1.3) and purchase the NESSA airline package to the NIT (NOR 5.3).  Ticket info is now available and listed below.

Jet Blue
24MAY F      BOS to CLE      1130A  130P

26MAY S      CLE to BOS        745P  929P

Price: $500/ticket x 9 tickets/school = $4500/school.

3) NESSA Championship Regatta Registration updates:  Regatta fees updates as of 1844 hrs on 3/19/19.  Remember, your entry is not completed until you have paid your fee, which could effect your site assignment for the O'Day and/or the Herreshoff.

1. On a related note to high school sailing.
There are a few Level-1 Instructor Courses being offered in the District (or close by) over the April school vacation week.  I know how quickly some of these courses fill up in May/June and how difficult it is for some aspiring instructors to find one that is close by and does not interfere with the myriad of other things going on at that time of year.  The April School Vacation week might be a good alternative for some.

Here is the link to the US Sailing  Educational Calendar.

Small Boat Instructor Level 1 at Sail Newport  4/13/2019   -   4/16/2019

Small Boat Instructor Level 1 at Cedar Point Yacht Club
4/13/2019   -   4/16/2019
Small Boat Instructor Level 1 at Cedar Point Yacht Club  4/13/2019   -   4/16/2019

Small Boat Instructor Level 1 at Annapolis Yacht Club
4/18/2019   -   4/22/2019
2. Registration for the O'Day and Herreshoff are not complete until yoru regatta Fees are paid.  Not paying your fee in the timely manner could jeopardize your fist choice site selection.  NESSA PayPal link is the quickest and easiest manner to make a payment

NESSA Spring 2019 Notes

The first 10 days of registration has been active.  Here are two things to consider this week.

1) Championship Regatta Registration:   A reminder that the registration fee MUST be paid in order for the registration to be completed.  Decisions on site assignments are made on completed & paid registrations only.  To check the status of your team, open the regatta event page (see below). The registration window closes on April 1st at 2359 hours.

2) Rosters and Tech Score: This is a good time of the year to update your team roster.  To do this, log into your school's Team Registration page using the Admin credentials that you used to pay your school's dues. It can take up to 24 hours for the ISSA database to "shake hands" with the Tech score database, so this is best done soon.

This is a good time to test your Tech Score Account  too.  If you are new to your school's program, you may need to set up your TS account - following the directions at the bottom of the TS page.  This process does not happen overnight, as it must be approved by the ISSA office in California.  Again, best done early rather than the day before the a regatta.
