NESSA events update

Coaches,

I've been asked to forward information regarding NESSA events and the CT States. As a coach, you are responsible for registering your team for events outside the FCSL. This includes NESSA events and the CT States.

To make sure you are receiving the latest emails from NESSA and info on upcoming events, sign-up to receive NESSA email blasts. You can do so at here

You can always check the schedule, NORs and find school info at NESSA online: http://nessa.hssailing.org/

Rob Hurd's Latest Emails referencing the O'Days and Herreshoff are below and the attachments are attached.

And a link to the CT States NOR is at the end (scroll down).

And, our league site with information and our league SIs is at http://fairfieldcountysailingleague.blogspot.com/

Hope this is helpful,
Carolyn

Updated O'Day list is attached.

  • Schools in Yellow  have not reached the 3-meet/regatta requirement as stated in the by-laws/district rules.  This requirement was establish for safety, is more than 30 years old, and can to be waived.
    •  In some cases, schools have reached the three meet/regatta requirement through some local fleet racing regattas, results of which are not posted on Tech score.  Those results should be forward to me, to be put on file in case anyone asked.  This is designed for your protection.
    • In other cases, schools in yellow will not reach the 3-meet/regatta requirement before Saturday morning.  Those schools, especially the ones on probation, are reminded that they haev until 49 hour prior to the O'Day qualifiers (0830 on Thursday April 20, 2017) to withdraw without penalty.
  • Schools in red have not paid yet and are not officially in the regatta until they do.  Payment must be made through the NESSA PayPal account, located here.

The ExComm stands ready, willing, and able to work with all schools to meet the basic requirements for participation in this Championship.  Please reach out to any of us with questions, comments, or concerns.

Good Morning,
There have been  a bunch of inquiries into the O'Day this week.  Below is the e-mail that was sent to the membership on April 5th outlining assignments and responsibilities.  In some case, the confusion has been caused by people involved with their high school program not on the NESSA e-mail list.

Anyone can join and the instructions on how to do that are located in the upper right portion of the website - here is the link.  It is self-serving, so you have to add (or remove) yourself.

In other cases, NESSA e-mail have been filtered out to your junk or spam folders.  In that case, please check your settings.

In addition the NOR, SIs and Rotations have been added to each qualifying site under Tech Score.  You can find that information by clicking on the "R" button next to the regatta on the schedule page.

Finally, as a reminder, please make sure that your team takes care of their Tech Score responsibilities as outlined below sooner rather than later.  Showing up at the O'Day qualifiers unprepared may cost your team, which is a shame, sicne it is your responsibility to be prepared.

Questions, comments, or concerns?  Ask any of us on the ExComm

Attached are the Site Allocates for the O'Day trophy as determined by the NESSA Vice President.  I believe in all cases, every school was slotted in their first choice.

Some NESSA District Rules  reminders as we head towards the regatta date.

1) Article K, NESSA Regattas, section D: "Schools must sail at least three scheduled meets or regattas prior to the championship ....."
  • Results from team races can be sent to me for posting on the Team Racing  Scores website.
  • Results from fleet races can either be posted on Tech Score or sent to me "for the record."

2) Article L: Failure to Compete.  You have until 48 hours prior to the event to withdraw without penalty.  Teams on Probation (list attached) should pay particular note of this as the second violation of article L while on probation carries a severe penalty.

3) Article M: Trophy winner responsibility.  Tabor is the holder of the O'Day  trophy.

4) Tech Score: There will be no paper race participation (RP) forms this year at any NESSA regattas.  Coaches will need their own Tech Score account to upload their sailors.  Failure to do such carries a 20 pt/division penalty, the result of which could knock a team out of qualifying. If you need a Tech Score account, access this page and follow the direction at the bottom. Furthermore, names on the school's  rosters show up on Tech Score 24 hours after they have been loaded, so plan ahead.

Attached are the Site Allocates for the Herreshoff trophy as determined by the NESSA Vice President. In some cases, schools were assigned their second choice in order to create greater balance between the three sights.

3) Article M: Trophy winner responsibility.  Portsmouth Abbey  is the holder of the Herreshoff  trophy, but as there is no actual Herreshoff trophy yet, this article does not apply

4) Tech Score: There will be no paper race participation (RP) forms this year at any NESSA regattas.  Coaches will need their own Tech Score account to upload their sailors.  Failure to do such carries a 20 pt/division penalty, the result of which could knock a team out of qualifying.
